故事的男主人公王可达是个留美硕士，他在一家知名的英语培训学校任教GMAT老师，这是一个受人尊重和羡慕的职业，但是他自己并不这么认为。 可达是个爱好音乐的人，虽然大学本科是在中国最优秀的高等学府主修的建筑专业，但是酷爱音乐的他在大学毕业后毅然放弃了优厚的择业条件，选择了到美国优秀的音乐学院进修了音乐专业。毕业后，可达也曾与知己好友组建了一支乐队，在圈内小有名气，怎奈市场的不景气，及他们的音乐相对小众，最终导致乐队的解散。 为了糊口，留过美的可达只好教起了GMAT，这份工作虽然他做的如鱼得水，但是内心深处对音乐的渴望却让他并没有像众人艳羡的那样潇洒自在，反倒是一种混日子的感觉。 谁知就在可达快要认命的档口，一个同样从美国留学归来，同样热爱音乐的女孩改变了他，女孩热情，有闯劲儿，敢作敢当，对音乐有着格外的执着，她还曾是个可达的歌迷，为了让可达重拾对音乐的梦想，女孩做出了很多努力。而在和这个活泼有冲劲的女孩相处的过程中，可达也放下了包袱，重新站在了属于他的舞台上。 那把旧时的吉他换了新弦，“他”的“心弦”也为之“拨动”。
