重启剧《夏威夷神探 Magnum P.I.》风格上类似《天堂执法者 Hawaii Five-0》，背景同样设在夏威夷，不过主角们是私家侦探，老版在1980-1988年播出。新版由Peter Lenkov及Eric Guggenheim负责剧本﹑林诣彬执导，在这版本主角 仍然是四人帮，不过不像旧版都是男性，而是改为三男一女；剧情讲述Thomas Magnum（Jay Hernandez饰）是获授勋的前海豹突击队成员，从阿富汗回国后他把自己的军事技能投放在当私家侦探上，而他的拍档包括前老兵Theodore “TC” Calvin及Orville “Rick” Wright，以及被除名的前MI6特工Juliet Higgins，他们一同调查各种奇怪的案件。Perdita Weeks饰演Juliet Higgins，是作家Robin Masters的夏威夷物业管理人，Thomas在剧中表面上为Robin当安保并住在他的客房。Juliet擅长指挥﹑自信﹑坚强，口头上爱吐糟。Zachary Knighton饰演Rick，前海军陆战队舱门射手（直升机枪击手）的他现在经营着欧胡岛最受欢迎的夜总会；主角与他关系密切，因为三名男主都曾在伊拉克成为战俘。而在夏威夷，Rick则是协助主角找东西的最佳选择。Stephen Hill饰演Theodore “TC” Calvin，前海军陆战队直升机机师，他经营着夏威夷最小但亦最优质的直升机导览公司「Island Hoppers」；因皆当过战俘的关系，TC成了Thomas最忠诚的朋友之一。
