不知疲倦地寻找他失踪的女儿乔迪，耐莉将不遗余力地揭露真相和地狱发现更多关于他自己和周围的人比他想象的。
电影讲述了几个初涉社会的大学生窘迫、挫败的人生经历，他们中的美女校花为追求歌星之路被富人包养；富二代公子哥因家庭破产自谋生路；校园学霸只能从事送外卖的苦差事……昔日的天之骄子皆成社会底层的草根，他们在冷漠、残酷的现实中不甘沉沦，抚平伤痛，走上艰辛崎岖的创业之路。
主要讲述的是女富豪宋翠芬用心经营着前夫刘明留给她的一家饭店，取得了事业的成功，可生活却变得乏味，渴望得到真爱的她谎称是普通打工族，想通过电视征婚的方式，求得一位善良可靠、不图金钱的普通人。 中学体育教师曾大伟被电视里宋翠芬淳朴、善良的形象所吸引，心动却未行动，反而是儿子小雷代父应征。
