《天下财经》节目是北京电视台唯一一档证券类节目，一直以来，都是周一至周五证券市场交易时间播出，而每周末是金融市场、资本市场的总结时间，对于周末时段的财经节目，一直有着较强的观众需求，为此，《天下财经》在2007年增加周六的播出。009年11月天下财经推出：“天下财经·百姓炒股秀”节目。节目的宗旨是：“立足百姓，服务百姓”。节目推出一年多至今已有百余位普通股民走进了演播室，接连涌现出普通股民里的巴菲特、索罗斯、彼得·林奇们……他们用自己的语言，讲述老百姓自己的投资故事。他们虽然有着各自的财富神话和投资传奇，但是却有个共同的特点——他们都是普通的股民，都来自普通老百姓。
