Castillon is suspicious of John and his motives and conspires to stop John being granted a trading licence.Adil Ray (Citizen Khan, Ackley Bridge) is John’s neighbour Murad Beg who dislikes General Castillon intensely and agrees to help John secure a trading licence. 唐朝年间，僧人玄奘去西方取经的故事。心海法师将作为他的佛学礼仪导师。作为《大唐玄奘》的男主角，即将挑战出演唐僧的黄晓明在发布会上表示，自己为了这部戏的开拍已经开始吃素。“唐僧”黄晓明幽默表示该戏有唐朝将军，可以邀请成龙大哥来客串，该戏虽然没有孙悟空但是也有猴子，可以请王宝强来客串，引得现场大笑。而网友对于黄晓明饰演唐僧充满了好奇，比如是否会光头、是否会太过入戏等等，大部分网友认为“黄教主”的气质还是与唐僧极为贴近的。黄晓明本人还透露，自己6岁时就曾在西安大雁塔下穿着唐僧衣服、骑着白龙马留影，现场心海法师表示，这便是黄晓明的“佛缘”。
该剧是从全国打拐行动的众多卷宗中，精选出8个有代表性的案例连贯相衔而成的。剧本广泛征求意见，几易其稿，还原生活又高于生活。从筹拍到实拍用了两年的时间。剧组行程几万公里，追踪采访拐卖案中受害者及家人。 这是一部特别震撼人的纪实电视连续剧，其中许多父母卖房卖血走天涯也要找寻骨肉的场景，令整个拍摄场地泣不成声。用导演范建会的话说：“把打拐放在后面，把家庭的悲剧放在前面，把客观事件放在后面，把事件中的人推在前面，是这部纪实电视剧最大的艺术特色。”
